I was born in Montréal, Québec into a French-Canadian family. When I was 6, my father was offered a job in Atlanta, Georgia and six months later, I was fully bilingual. That was the first of many moves during my childhood which opened my eyes to different cultures, opinions and lifestyles.   As a result, my life has been quite colourful and this has extended into my art (and my cooking).

I’m fascinated by the sights, sounds and textures of my natural environment, especially the effects of sunlight and the constantly changing colours. My preferred mediums are oils and acrylics but I have also been experimenting with mixed media and other mediums to express the glow and energy that I feel radiating through nature.

My process varies but I’ll oftentimes start with a tonal underpainting and then build up the painting with layers of colour.  As the painting progresses and begins to reveal its personality, looser and brighter brushstrokes are applied to convey the energy and emotion behind the painting.

My influences include many amazing artists but I’m especially drawn to those that use bold colours and expressive lines... artists like Edvard Munch, Egon Schiele, Félix Vallotton, Dorothea Tanning, Mia Bergeron and Dina Brodsky.

I have a Collegial Diploma in Fine Arts and a BA in Communications.  I’m a mostly self-taught artist who began painting in 2011 and in 2017 decided to leave my corporate job to devote myself to painting full-time. The entire painting process gives me so much pleasure… establishing the composition, values and colour, using painterly brushstrokes and finally watching the painting come alive.

My recent series of paintings inspired by the woods of l’Ile-Bizard will be exhibited at the Ile-Bizard Library in May 2024. In the next few years, I will be working on a series that explores the relationship between humankind and nature.
